Please be aware that the double glazing community are now selling solar panels, so along come all the double glazing sales tactics. I had one guy round, and had to tell him 5 times before he left after quoting us £9000. This is ridiculous of course so then he started to offer me discounts. This got the price down to £6000.
Question how can a company just wipe off £3000 like that, answer, because it was a ridiculously over priced.
In most cases, a new tank is necessary with solar. An old tank will probably scaled up with limescale and extremely inefficient. The tank needs to be twin coiled, although during my research I did find a solar twin solar which could use my old tank, but they seemed immensely over priced for what amounted to a plastic panel and have been banned from grants schemes due to quality issue's.
I am having a solar tube installation done next week for a more reasonable £4000 including a new tank compared to an install without a tank.
