There is a point with all of this. Humans is fundamentally irresponsible. They care not one bit how their behaviour affects the natural world around them. Take for instance how we continue to wipe out entire species of animals every month.

If I was not human, I certainly would not believe humans were worth saving. Well, except for perhaps a handful that could be kept in a zoo or observed in a lab.

If 9.5 billion people were just to have: food, clothing, fuel and housing i.e. the basics, then there will still be climate change - it would just take longer to use up all the worlds resources, that is all. So, there no escaping our inevitable demise!

Humanities and other species only hope are peak oil. That the world, resources will deplete quicker than we all expected, making modern lifestyles impossible to sustain. Neither option is a reasonable option, but with the second option, at least humanity and other species will survive longer term.

If this comes true, do you all think our democracy/modern civilisation will survive:

Food shortages, problems with water purity, energy shortages, extreme weather events, perhaps the spread of disease not seen here for centuries?

For me, the crux of the problem is, and I only pray I will be proven wrong - that the doomsday clock of global heating is ticking ever faster towards midnight. In this sense, it is comparable to war.

We can either declare war on global warming globally together, or end up fighting each other for scarce food, water or even the last dregs of oil. This will not happen of course because our democracy structure, and our politicians only have a 4 year view.

More roads built by our (so called) cash strapped government means more global warming, peak oil rushing at us at a faster rate than it normall would. To suggest that our (greenest ever) government have their priorities wrong is more than just an understatement.

It is a massive cause for concern.

The water crisis is an indication of the environmental tragedy of human over-exploitation. This is the time 'the Anthropocene', because the natural process has been so fundamentally altered by human activity.

Surely what is seems like, the next world war is going to fall upon the waters, therefore in such circumstances alternatives form making power such as solar energy seems to be the best possible solution available.
